Meet Diana Preston

Mayor, City of Lilburn

The Story:
Diana is the Mayor of Lilburn, Georgia, a small town with many big differences. Lilburn boasts not only an attractive,
historic downtown, but also bustling commercial areas and abundant recreational options. Only 20 miles from Atlanta and 12 miles from Emory/CDC, Lilburn’s location is the most strategic in Gwinnett.

How I Got Here:
I moved to Gwinnett in the 1970s with my husband and began working for Gwinnett County Public Schools as a Spanish and English teacher. I won my first Lilburn City Council race in 1985 and was elected Mayor in 2007.

What I Do for Fun:

I make time to walk Lilburn’s new trail, support area Neighborhood Watch Groups and help community groups organize events like Lilburn Idol, Lilburn Daze, Christmas Parade, Farmers’ Market, Relay Rally and Music on Main.

My Big Dream:
I dream of seeing the Lilburn DDA and CID’s plans come to fruition. With a new City Hall and library, a beautified Highway 29 corridor and a mix of housing options, I know Lilburn will become one of Georgia’s best towns.

What’s Next For Me:

I look forward to enjoying time with my grandson, Preston, and traveling with my husband, Larry, to learn more about the homelands and cultures of some of Lilburn’s
international residents.
