The Story:
Tamela Adkins is an attorney in Lawrenceville specializing in family law, personal injury and minor criminal defense litigation. Her passion is litigating custody cases in which she believes her client is the best parent. She also helps hundreds of Gwinnett families each year through uncontested divorces.

My Idea Of Fun:
I have fun every day! Life is too short not to laugh ? a lot! I can have fun at work, at my gym, at dinner, in a foreign city, on a boat, on a motorcycle, reading a great book or just watching TV. It’s all in the attitude!

How I Got Here:
The day I graduated from law school in 1992, I moved from Connecticut to Atlanta. I did not know a single person in Georgia. I practiced in Atlanta for over eight years before moving to Gwinnett in 1999. I agree…Gwinnett is Great!

Things I Tell Myself:
Life comes in increments…I take things in bite-size pieces to function at my best. If I have four trials in one week, I just take a breath and look at each one as a distinct unit and not focus on the whole. It keeps me sane!

What I’d Most Like To See:
The only place left on my list to see (guess I need to rework the list so I don’t kick the bucket) is base camp at Mount Everest. It is a six-day hike from Katmandu, and I have wanted to see The Mountain since I was a kid!

What’s Next For Me:
I have no idea…and I’m okay with that. Life continually amazes me and dumps interesting experiences and opportunities at my feet. Sometimes they are good, sometimes not.
